John Hadfield and Chris Shelton met in a class called Circus Skills
and Stage Combat at the University of Delaware in 1980, and soon
were best friends and partners in crime in a comedy knock-about show
called The Crash Brothers. In 1981, Chris was
accepted into the prestigious Ringling Bros.
Clown College and then was drafted into the Ringling Bros. and
Barnum and Bailey Circus. John followed Chris to the Ringling Bros.
Clown College in
1982 (after getting his degree in Russian language) and was accepted
into the Royal
Lichtenstein Circus shortly thereafter.
Following their adventures in the circus, Chris and John resumed the
act with a new energy and insanity -- performing at The White House,
Disneyland, and Magic Land in Bangkok, Thailand. They then joined up
with Paul Hadfield and Kenny Ahern for the Four Funny Guys tour of
Taiwan with the China International Children's Festival. The Crash
Brothers act includes fast-paced juggling, unicycling, acrobatics
and balancing, magic, music, and unique twists on classic comedy
routines.
